Teaching Arts Seminars

The Appalachian Education Initiative and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History invite you to apply for two practical, hands-on "Artists as Educators" Seminars, "Laying a Foundation: Defining Arts Integration" and "Planning Effective Residencies for Students,” developed by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C.  We are pleased to announce that the Seminars will be offered in Beckley (at Tamarack) on March 8, 9 and 10, 2011.

ARTIST SUBMISSIONS SOUGHT FOR DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE CENTENNIAL

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA) is seeking submissions of original artwork to help celebrate the WVDA’s centennial as a state agency in 2011. The winning entry will be the basis of a commemorative poster that will be featured at the 2011 State Fair of West Virginia.

Arts Council of Kanawha Valley Revs Up to Promote the Arts.

Break out the champagne! Bring on the caviar! (Well, enjoy the cash bar and hors d’oevres.) The Arts Council of Kanawha Valley will have a launch party on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 to inaugurate its newly formed organization whose purpose is to enhance the Kanawha Valley’s quality of life through the arts. Artists of all stripes, friends and interested parties are invited to attend this event that will run from 6-8 pm in the Clay Center Grand Lobby.
