Naomi Bays
Naomi Bays is visual artist focusing on photography, printmaking and small sculpture. She has been involved in Charleston’s art community over 15 years. Starting out as a volunteer at the city’s new art festival, FestivALL, Naomi has progressed into being the Public Art Chair and producing over 55 events in the past 5 years.
As co-owner of ArtGawk, artwork installations in occupied and unoccupied storefronts, emerging artists have been nurtured in two neighboring cities. She has worked in two galleries in Charleston and is currently a volunteer curator of non-traditional exhibition space in a law office.
In 2009, the Kanawha Valley’s newly adopted Cultural Plan recommended the formation of an arts council. Naomi took the charge and as Chair of the Arts Council of Kanawha Valley laid the foundation to provide resources to artists, arts organizations and patrons.
